An Adaptive GIS Tool For Image Characterisation
نویسنده
چکیده
GIS systems often rely on low-level, pixel-based representations of satellite scenes. The purpose of this paper is to show the advantages of using an intermediate representation incorporating multiple criteria in scene characterisation, as well as a framework for monitoring changes over time based on features of interest. A Conceptual Spaces framework, in conjunction with navigation-based skeletonisation are employed for this purpose. We evaluate our system on satellite images of rivers and lakes.

An Adaptive Hierarchical Method Based on Wavelet and Adaptive Filtering for MRI Denoising
MRI is one of the most powerful techniques to study the internal structure of the body. MRI image quality is affected by various noises. Noises in MRI are usually thermal and mainly due to the motion of charged particles in the coil. Noise in MRI images also cause a limitation in the study of visual images as well as computer analysis of the images. In this paper, first, it is proved that proba...

A geographic information system (GIS) is a powerful decision-support platform for environmental modeling and policy formulation. Before any analysis can be made, however, cartographic features need to be extracted from images and maintained in a database. The process of populating the database is estimated to be 60-80% of the cost of implementing a GIS. This bottleneck will only increase with t...
متن کاملImage Enhancement Using an Adaptive Un-sharp Masking Method Considering the Gradient Variation
Technical limitations in image capturing usually impose defective, such as contrast degradation. There are different approaches to improve the contrast of an image. Among the exiting approaches, un-sharp masking is a popular method due to its simplicity in implementation and computation. There is an important parameter in un-sharp masking, named gain factor, which affects the quality of the enh...
متن کاملAdaptive Image Dehazing via Improving Dark Channel Prior
The dark channel prior (DCP) technique is an effective method to enhance hazy images. Dark channel is an image with the same size as the hazy image which represents the haze severity in different places of the image. The DCP method suffers from two problems: it is incapable for removing haze from smooth regions, causing blocking effects on these areas; it cannot properly reduce a haze with a no...
متن کاملOn the Integration of GIS and Remotely Sensed Data: Towards An Integrated System to Handle The Large Volume of Spatial Data
There are significant issues and problems in the integration of remotely sensed data and GIS due to the differences in data characterisation, data structure and data processing philosophy between the two technologies. Difficulties exist particularly in handling large data volumes in GIS which are unavoidable when using remotely sensed imagery. This paper focuses on the integration of image data...
